The following OCJB Library Rules and Regulations are introduced for the equal welfare of all users of OCJB Library with effective from 1st September 2008:

 

1.  The Librarians reserve the right to request a user to leave the 

     library if the user violates the rules.

 

2.  Discussions are NOT ALLOWED in the library. No classes are to be

      conducted in the library.

 

3.  All library users are NOT ALLOWED to bring in bags, helmets, umbrellas, raincoats, and packages. It should be kept in the metal lockers near the DBS Coordinator’s office.

 

4.   Only students using Olympia College card are allowed to enter and  

      utilize library facilities.

 

5.  Silence is to be observed in the library at all times and all mobile phones must be set into silent mode before entering library.

 

6.  All library materials to be taken out of the library must be properly charged out at the Circulation Counter. The Librarians reserve the right to check all books, files and other materials that are taken out from the library.

 

7.  Eating and drinking are strictly prohibited in the library at all times.

 

8.  Full time students may only borrow 2 books at a time for maximum 3 days period, and part time students are allowed to borrow 2 books at a time for one (1) week period. Full time and part time lecturers are allowed to borrow 3 books at a time for a period of one (1) semester.

 

9.  Fines are imposed on overdue item at RM0.50 per day per item.

 

10. Students who postpone, withdraw, quit or have completed their 

      courses from the college must return all borrowed materials from  

      the library to the library.

 

11. At the end of semester, academic staffs are required to return all

      materials borrowed from the library.

 

12. Students who have lost or damaged library materials or who have

      failed to return borrowed item/ items will be requested to pay a 

      replacement fee of double the item’s cost. While, the staff

      members will be bonded by a separate contract.

 

13. All staff and students are advised to operate the photostat machine

      by themselves. If users have any problem, please learn from the

      Librarian.

 

14. Library users who photocopy materials are fully responsible for any

      action liable and contravening the COPYRIGHT ACT.

 

15. Library users are not allowed to remove library furnitures and

      equipments from their original place. Reservation of seats is also

      not permitted.

 

16. Librarians shall remove books and other articles left for any length

      of time on the tables or chairs. The Librarians accept no

      responsibility for the loss of personal belongings left unattended on

      the tables.

 

17. All users are required to be properly attired as specified by the

      college. The Librarians reserve the right to ask users who are not

      well- attired to leave the library.

 

18. Newspapers are not allowed to be taken out from the library unless

      special permission is given by the Librarians.

 

The use of computers in the Library

 

19. The Library provides access to computers and the internet to

      support the research, teaching, learning and community service

      activities of the college.

 

20. At times, the demand for library computer exceeds availability. You

      are asked to be sensitive to the needs of others and its use during

      times of heavy demand.

 

21. We welcome the use of laptops and other personal computing

      devices in the Library. Users may connect personal equipment only

      to the wireless network. Users may not unplug any Library’s

      equipments or cables for any reason.

 

22. The Librarians reserve the right to amend these rules as and when

      necessary.
